I was prompted to design a product that solved a problem for people living in vans, with the main objective being repairability. I utilized design/market research and CAD modeling to come up with a repairable fan design that targets the cooling problems in van living.

The result is a modular fan that can be taken apart and reassembled for easy use and scalability. It can be one component, which is palm-sized, or many can be connected together to create a larger fan. I decided to make this for the vanlife prompt as overheating is a large grievance of van living and this provides a non-intrusive solution for a small space.

challenge.

The challenge was coming up with a best way to give the fans power. At first, I was going to use USB-C charging, but realized batteries were better for remote areas and places that could be without outlets, like a van. The fan blades are supported by a bracket within the fan and there are minimal parts for easy repairability, another overarching factor of this project.
