"eat more scallions" is a testament to my Cantonese roots and fun times I have spent in Hong Kong. I hope to bring more recognition to such a specific area of the globe and a language/dialect whose cultural significance and nuance is often overshadowed.
Cantonese is a tonal language, meaning its comprehension is dependent on a set of differently-pitched sounds of individual words. I chose to include these in my work as a reflection of my childhood growing up saying all these foods and to bring attention to various ways languages can fundamentally work.
